Dr Lai commenced practice at Allamanda Private Hospital with the Gold Coast Heart Centre in January 2012. He is a graduate from the University of Queensland Medical School and completed his specialist training at the Royal Brisbane, Prince Charles, Gold Coast and Townsville Hospitals. In 2009 he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
Advancing his medical experience at the prestigious McMaster University Canada, Dr Lai completed a two year fellowship in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiac CT Angiography. He performed a high volume of invasive Coronary Angiographies, Complex Percutaneous Coronary Interventions, including Chronic Total Occlusion Intervention, and Rotational Arthrectomy and PFO closures. He was also involved in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Assessments and Implantations.
In addition to his training in Interventional Cardiology, he has also received training in Cardiac CT Angiography interpretation. In 1990, Dr Lai moved to Australia and attended The Southport School (TSS). He is fluent in the English language, Chinese Mandarin and Taiwanese (Hokkien).
Dr Lai is committed to providing the highest of Cardiology expertise and service to his patients in General and Interventional Cardiology, and CT angiography. Dr Lai strives to be of service and contribution to the local community on the Gold Coast and conducts regular outpatient consultations. He also provides inpatient hospital services on a daily basis as well as fulfilling his oncall specialist responsibilities.
